Cleaning the outside of the exhaust
The outer part of the exhaust can be cleaned with a commercial polishing/cleaning paste. It is not necessary to dismantle the exhaust, but it should not be warm from your last ride. Apply the paste according to the instructions. Usually, once applied, massage it in and then polish it away with a soft rag.
Four-stroke engine exhaust cleaning - the easy way
Look once in your hardware store for special gasoline additives for cleaning. These are added to the gasoline when refueling. The additive will then clean the exhaust all by itself during your next ride. This will give you a deep and thorough cleaning of the entire fuel and exhaust system.
Clean exhaust mechanically
The safest way to clean your exhaust is actually mechanical scrubbing. You simply scrape out the dirt. You can help yourself here with oven spray or a special cleaner from the hardware store.
Burn out exhaust
Playing with fire always requires careful consideration! Burning out is only permitted if no insulation wool burns in the process. Why? Your motorcycle would become louder afterwards and that was it with the operating license. The burnout must be done dismantled and under the open sky, because it will smoke and stink when the residue burns in the exhaust. Please do not burn out with gasoline! This is possible in principle, but the potential danger is great. Modern man uses a gas burner. Hold it in the exhaust pipe until all residues are burned off. Be careful! Do not damage the pipe itself.
